Dennis Rodman was having a great time at partying and did not come back after the 48 hours deal, freeing himself from his duties in basketball. Michael Jordan went to Dennis Rodman’s room to please him to go back to the practice and Dennis went back. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen accepted the attitude of Dennis Rodman of being a party goer, Dennis made sure that he will work hard with his team.
As Dennis Rodman came back to the practice, Coach Phil Jackson’s motive was to get Dennis into his shape.
“Dennis is always a rebel, at some point. He wants to join the group, but the other part of him wants to be autonomous. So, we appreciate the fact that he’s a maverick. But yet, when it comes time for him to perform, he’s always on the court for us, always playing hard for us.” – Coach Phil Jackson, Chicago Bulls’ Head Coach
Coach Phil does not look at Dennis Rodman as a Basketball player but as a great friend. He realized that Dennis Rodman probably needs him for inspiration. He wants to see Rodman’s perseverance. Coach Phil is great at bringing the team together. He does not just coach in basketball but he also shared his knowledge in Zen Buddhism and Native American Indian philosophies. These philosophies are about being focused, playing as one.
Coach Phil Jackson started to play basketball when he was still a kid.
“My goal was always in conflict. I would rather be playing sports than being on my knees, praying.” –Coach Phil Jackson
Eventually, Coach Phil Jackson went to the University of North Dakota. The Knicks drafted him and started his All-Rookie Team, his rookie season.
“He was like an earlier version of Dennis Rodman.”- Rick Telander, Chicago Sun-Times
He then became a coach to some teams until the Chicago Bulls tracked him and hired him. Doug Collins, the head coach of the Chicago, was fired and Phil Jackson took over his position. Doug Collins’ play was only to focus on Michael and this is opposite to Coach Phil Jackson in which he wants everybody in the team to be in the highlight.
“The spotlight’s on the ball and if you’re always the guy that’s gonna have the ball, teams can generate a defense against that, which happened with the Pistons the last couple years.” – said Coach Phil to Michael Jordan
Coach Phil needed to find a way to make everyone in the team better, he needed to create new threats in the team. Scottie Pippen started to bloom as one of the top players in the NBA and stopped as being the shadow of Michael Jordan.
The Chicago Bulls fought against the Detroit Pistons. The Chicago Bulls were defeated by the Detroit Pistons and they were absolutely pissed about it. It was not a fair game; the Detroit Pistons still did their dirty game. At that time, it was unfortunate for the Chicago Bulls because Scottie Pippen had a migraine and could not focus on the game. Instead of having a vacation after the defeat of the Chicago Bulls, they all worked hard to gain some muscles to surely take the bad boys of Detroit down in their next match. In 1991, the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls met again. Detroit still did their dirty play but the Chicago Bulls stood very still and won the game. And their victory continued when they defeated the Lakers and was entitled as the Champion.
