Hey Ballers, it’s discdad again! Have you tried receiving an essential basketball gear that was ordered from the online and was not purely made by a well known athletic company? Well, that surely made you disappointed. Customers have difficulties on online marketplaces, such as with authentication, and for some time, an authentication tells whether the sneakers are real or fake. According to this article in businessinsider.com.au, eBay Australia is developing an authentication guarantee program for top-selling brands of kicks such as Nike’s Air Jordan and Adidas’ Yeezy, which retail for thousands of dollars on the internet. According to an Australian Post report, internet shopping in Australia hit an all-time peak in 2020, with online sales up 57% year on year.
Heads up, Aussie Ballers! The Australian branch of eBay is opening to certifiable listings from the United States, including Jordan, Nike, and Adidas brands as well. Resale shoes on the Australian eBay will now be included in a new Authenticity Guarantee program that aims to reduce the possibility of being scammed. It will initially be available for new shoes priced more than $150, pre-owned shoes will be permitted to be sold at $300 with brands qualified to be sold including Jordan, Yeezy, Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Vans, Asics, Reebok, Converse and Puma. The plan aims to fight counterfeits on one of the world’s most popular online marketplaces by creating a team of third-party authenticators based in Australia over the next few months. In light of questions about counterfeits and the website, David Ramadge, the director of eBay for Australia, claims that the new service is intended to add more trust to the eBay marketplace. Also, he said that there is a growing army of Australian sneakerheads—that is, people who really want the new hot drops and, while those who care about exclusive drops are still being looked for.
eBay launched their Authenticity Guarantee which ensures over 12 million Australians can now have access to their large shoe selection of authentic American products, all the while feeling secure in the item’s authenticity.
Nike revealed in April that it would begin a program to clean and resell shoes that consumers have used and returned, a program it said would help it nurture the circular fashion system while also allowing the brand to recover merchandise that would otherwise have ended up on resale platforms.
The service would enable Australians to shop eBay listings in the United States that show an “Authenticity Guarantee” tag, a process eBay conducted in collaboration with third-party authenticator Sneaker Con. Ebay has stated that it would pay the costs of authentication, including international shipping from the authentication center to Australian customers.
After being sold, sneakers from US-based listers will be sent to a dedicated authentication center in New York or Las Vegas for inspection before being sent to Australian buyers with an authenticity sticker. So, there is no need to worry about your order if it is fake or not.
When customers obtain shoes, they will be able to check the tag with their phone to open an encrypted digital certificate displaying the product’s specifications, height, SKU, and date of authentication, according to eBay Australia.
eBay’s success soared in 2020, attracting 11 million new consumers in 2021 and rocketing to 185 million active users, in line with the rest of the e-commerce industry.
