Green trained five hours a day, eager to develop his talents. He had always been interested in basketball since he was a little kid, and had invested hours training at the gym to be among the very best of his age.Green’s capacity began to develop with the encouragement of his stepfather, who played basketball in college. He was participating in the Amateur Athletic Union by the time Green graduated to sixth grade (AAU).

Green, who averaged 33 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, was named to the MaxPreps All-American and All-USA second teams in his third year of high school basketball and final year in the San Joaquin Memorial High School. He was also named the player of the year for the USA Today All-USA California. He revealed his decision in March 2019 to play his senior year of basketball at Prolific Prep.
